International Data Transfers Master Class

Panelists addressed overcoming legal risk and exposure around international data transfers resulting from the ‘Schrems II’ decision. The speakers discussed points including the status of developing a Privacy Shield 2.0; interplay between GDPR’s territorial scope of application and rules governing cross border transfers; and methodology for conducting TIAs.

German DPOs Share GDPR Stories

German DPOs discussed their post-GDPR experiences, including their greatest accomplishments and barriers to success. They described processes they completed, only to repeat them after receiving new information from the organisation or new guidance from regulators, and how data protection on the ground differed from the laws on the books.

Operationalising the New German ePrivacy Law (TTDSG)

With the TTDSG having taken effect on 21 December 2021, data protection professionals are grappling with new operational challenges in the realm of telecommunications, telemedia and online advertising more generally.

This session explored how data protection professionals are handling new operational challenges that emerged when the TTDSG took effect. Speaker discussed building new measures into data protection programmes while complying with the GDPR.
