Almost 400 privacy pros attended the IAPP ANZ Summit 2022

Attendees learned how privacy laws and data protection regulations worldwide affect the way they do business here in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. They connected and re-connected with colleagues, explored ways to change the perceptions of a Privacy Impact Assessment from a barrier to a benefit, discussed Māori data sovereignty and more at the 11th annual ANZ Summit – the biggest one ever.

At the IAPP’s inaugural panel on Considering Indigenous Privacy Perspectives, panelists introduced the concept of Māori data sovereignty and discussed the application of the current privacy framework to dMāori data. .

 

The Shape of Things to Come — Review of the Australian Privacy Act

This panel shared their government and regulatory perspectives on the review of the Australian Privacy Act, what it is being reshaped into, what sectors are impacted, its current state and next steps.

 

Privacy Enhancing Technology

This discussion centered on the applicability of PET’s across an organisation, including specific use cases, highlights of regulatory direction and more, before branching into ethical AI frameworks and quantum resilient data protection.
